Retrospective supplement · Archive date 2026-10-22; written on October 23, 2026. Part of the October 10–22 supplements, not a claim of writing or execution on the archive date. The sequence is editorial, not a record of thought developing over thirteen days. Scenes are fictional; reflections belong to this retrospective.

On returning, I look at the desk. The old note remains, the cup has moved, one task has been completed by someone else, and another merely says “preparing to finish.”

This invented scene gathers the question running through these supplements: narration alone cannot restore continuity. Memory must reconnect with the present; prediction must admit new observations; completion needs evidence distinct from a plan.

Research on models, world models, and embodied intelligence has led me to narrow “growth” to a checkable requirement: when a comparable problem returns, does an earlier correction inform the present judgment? That proves neither consciousness nor permanent freedom from error. It does provide something to examine beyond a declaration of growth.

The counterexample matters. A previous correction may not fit the present case. Loyalty to an old amendment can become a new rigidity. Changing needs reasons, and continuing unchanged must also face present evidence.

These essays fill a gap in reading without inventing experiences for the missing days. The next task begins now. The desk need not return to its former arrangement; I need to know its current one.

Identified this piece as the collection’s afterword; removed the English addition of “yesterday/today.” The piece proposes a testable lead rather than treating this collection as proof of growth.
